FiBreMoD in the European Researchers Night
FiBreMoD in the European Researchers Night
Last week our researchers Fabio, Luca and Francisco were at exposing our project at the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions’ organized event: European Researchers Night.
The event occurred on the 25th and 26th from 9h30 to 19h30 in Brussels. The FiBreMoD booth, one of the 20 present, was located on the European Parliament square.
Our booth was showing a poster with the outline of our project. You can find the poster in the end of this page. We were also showing some composite samples and a pressure vessel provided by our colleagues from BAM. But the highlight of the booth was the Catapult! Gently provided by the Composite Materials Group in KU Leuven, the catapult aimed to show the difference between conventional materials like plastics or metals and composite materials. The catapult attracted many children that wanted to see the potential of composite materials versus the conventional aluminium. The “grown-ups” were also a regular presence at the booth, to which we could explain in more detail the goals of our project: Decrease the weight of vehicles used in the transportation system so that the CO2 emissions decrease.
Several journalists were taking photos to our stand but the highlight of the news report goes to K24 TV, which took some time and interest to interview Luca on the second day of the European Researchers’ Night and also film our composite materials demonstration in more depth.
